The Gray Geek

Air Share Site

The AirShare website

AirShare is a fledgling service begun by the owner of Aviation Services. The business proposition is formation of consortia around the ownership of aircraft. Pilots/potential owners register their interest in becoming part owners of particular types of aircraft. When enough potential owners have registered interest, Aviation Services will act as their agent in finding and acquiring suitable aircraft.

This site was created jointly by William J. Gavlas and myself. Work on the site was suspended owing to other business priorities at Aviation Services.

This site is built with "Ruby on Rails", and is hosted on the same server as the Aviation Services website. It differs from most of the sites I've built not only in the use of Ruby on Rails, but also in that it uses fastcgi to invoke the rails environment, instead of the simpler PHP environment. I manage both sites, as well as the server.

This site has little in the way of graphics, other than some scattered pictures. Nearly all of what visual work was done on this site, was done by Bill Gavlas.

Visit the AirShare site here. To get any sense of the work that has been done, it is necessary to sign in, and a userid and password are required for that. However, this is a free registration site and there are no consequences to registering (no spam or contact).
